Offered only from Mar 2008 - Aug 2008, this totally unique basket was a first for the Longaberger Company! Inspired by a peppermint candy, this basket is the first ever to be made by Longaberger from the top down.
The maple splints are hand cut and sanded to achieve the tapered shape. Weaving upside down, the basket maker starts with a kerf bottom for the top, completely opposite of how other baskets are made. The top outside band has been replaced with a walnut ring, allowing a smooth transition from the basket to the lid. Truly a work of art!
